The Cogno family has been producing wine in Piedmont for four generations. In 1990, Elvio Cogno left his long partnership with the historic Barolo producer Marcarini in La Morra to establish his own winery at a restored 18th-century farmhouse atop Bricco Ravera, near Novello in the Langhe region. The estate sits in the renowned Ravera cru, one of the most important vineyard sites of Barolo, located at around 380 metres above sea level.

Today the winery is managed by Elvio’s daughter Nadia Cogno and her husband Valter Fissore, who worked alongside Elvio for over two decades. Surrounded by approximately 11 hectares of estate vineyards, the winery produces a range of wines that reflect the character and traditions of the Langhe.

The vineyards are planted with high density and carefully farmed to preserve soil health and vine balance. Many vines are over 30 years old, with some Ravera parcels reaching 60–80 years, and rare pre-phylloxera vines exceeding 130 years.

In the cellar, Nadia and Valter follow a minimal intervention philosophy, allowing terroir to guide the wines. Fermentations are carried out with native yeasts and the red wines are aged in large traditional Slavonian oak casks, preserving the purity and elegance of Piedmont’s native grape varieties.

The wines of Elvio Cogno are known for their precision, balance and sense of place, expressing the distinctive character of the Ravera vineyards and the timeless traditions of Barolo.
