Elvio Cogno Barolo Ravera DOCG 2020

Brands:

$225.00

Volume: 750ml

The color is an intense, vibrant, and brilliant garnet red with subtle orange highlights. On the nose, it is frank, elegant, and powerful; it evokes notes of wild rose, mint, and tobacco that, over time, evolve into spicy aromas of coffee, licorice, truffle, and finally leather and minerals. On the palate, it is full-bodied and rounded, with great structure and good balance; it recalls plum jam and blackberry. The aftertaste is fresh and harmonious, very pleasant due to its aromatic persistence. Able to refine its characteristics over the years, it achieves classic elegance and composure with age.

Notes
Barolo Ravera comes from the historic Novello cru: a terroir that expresses itself through refined aromas, savory flavors, and remarkable complexity. The predominantly calcareous composition and the historic character of the cru add elegance and structure to the wine, granting it excellent longevity. The ability to evolve over time, standing the test of time unscathed, is a unique characteristic of few great wines. Austere and severe in its early years, Barolo Ravera does not lose its distinctive character with the passing of the harvests; on the contrary, it expresses it at its best. A moderate fermentation period and careful selection in the vineyard help enhance the grape’s characteristics, qualities that are best expressed after a period of bottle aging. It is a unique testament to a prestigious terroir, which elevates the distinctive character of the Langhe hills to the pinnacle of quality.
