Logan Weemala Shiraz Viognier 2021
$52.00
Volume: 750ml
Weemala is both an Aboriginal word for ‘good view’ and the name of our vineyard in the Central Ranges of NSW. As the birds that live here can testify, it does have a pretty good view. Right now, you’ve got a pretty good view of our Shiraz Viognier. You’ll find 2021 has produced aromas of lifted berry, floral and allspice aroma with a complex and long palate of plum, mulberry and cocoa.
Winemaking
A blend of Shiraz and Viognier from Mudgee (600m) and Orange (900m), harvested between 12.7–13.5° baumé from 8–30 March 2021. The vintage was challenging, with very low yields in Orange due to prior drought, weather events, and disease pressure, while Mudgee saw slightly reduced but healthier yields. Cooler conditions allowed slow ripening, resulting in expressive wines with moderate alcohol.
The Shiraz and Viognier were co-fermented using wild yeast in a mix of static and rotary fermenters. 75% was matured in French oak (1st–12th use) for 2 months, with the balance kept in stainless steel to preserve freshness. Lightly filtered before bottling.
