Weemala is both an Aboriginal word for ‘good view’ and the name of our vineyard in the Central Ranges of NSW. As the birds that live here can testify, it does have a pretty good view. Right now, you’ve got a pretty good view of our Merlot. Our 2023 Weemala Merlot has aromas of mixed berries, cocoa, violet and fresh earth. Medium bodied with flavours of rich plum and woody spices and a smooth finish.
Winemaking
The fermentation was in static fermenters pumped over twice per day. Fermentation was by wild yeast. The wine was then pressed to barrel in a mixture of new and used French oak barrels ranging in size from 225L, 300L and 500L. The wine was lightly filtered before bottling.
