Founded in 1921 in the village of Castiglione Falletto in the heart of Barolo, Paolo Scavino is a historic family estate that has played an important role in shaping modern Barolo. The winery was led for many decades by Enrico Scavino, who spent more than seventy years refining the estate’s wines and helping push Barolo forward through innovation and careful vineyard work.

Today the winery is managed by Enrico’s daughters, Enrica and Elisa Scavino, who continue the family legacy with the same dedication to quality and respect for the Langhe terroir. The estate farms around 30 hectares of vineyards spread across eight communes of the Barolo appellation, including Castiglione Falletto, Barolo, La Morra, Serralunga d’Alba, Monforte d’Alba and Verduno. This diverse collection of sites allows the family to showcase the distinctive character of each cru through a range of vineyard-specific wines.

From the vineyard to the cellar, the focus has always been on preserving the identity of each site. Grapes are carefully selected and vinified separately, allowing the family to understand the nuances of every parcel. Fermentations take place with native yeasts and controlled maceration to achieve balance and structure.

The Barolo wines are aged partly in French oak barrels before finishing in large traditional casks, a method that maintains the purity and expression of Nebbiolo. Through meticulous vineyard management and precise vinification, Paolo Scavino continues to produce elegant, terroir-driven Barolos that reflect both the diversity of the Langhe and the enduring legacy of the Scavino family.
