This is one of the rare 100% Cabernet Francs from Bolgheri and indeed from Italy, dedicated by Marilisa Allegrini to her brother Walter. It has become the jewel in Poggio al Tesoro’s crown. In Bolgheri’s microclimate and in the stony soils of the Via Bolgherese vineyard, situated in the prestigious area known as Soprastrada, this grape variety – which is generally used to give a touch of elegance to Bordeaux wines – finds an ideal habitat in which to express itself in an absolutely independent and original fashion.
The deep colour immediately testifies to the richness of this wine, which is then confirmed by aromas of black berries, pepper and eucalyptus that harmoniously merge together and create great depth. It is striking for how it manages to support an impressive structure with lightness and tension, making it powerful yet at the same time agile on the palate.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested in small 5-7 kg crates and are subjected to careful selection both in the vineyard and in the cellar, after which they are vinified in the traditional way. The wine is aged for 20 months in French oak barriques (100% new) and then for at least 9 months in the bottle.
