Founded in 1978 in the hills of Upper Moutere in the Nelson region of New Zealand, Neudorf Vineyards is one of the country’s most respected family estates. Established by Tim Finn and Judy Finn, the winery was built on a vision of producing wines that reflect the character of the land while maintaining balance, elegance and longevity.

The vineyards are located in the Moutere Hills, an area known for its ancient clay-gravel soils and cool maritime climate. Among the estate’s most prized sites is the Home Vineyard, planted on distinctive Moutere clay soils that naturally limit yields and contribute structure, minerality and depth to the wines. Over time, the estate has expanded with additional vineyard parcels, all managed with the same careful attention to site and sustainability.

Viticulture at Neudorf follows organic farming principles with a strong emphasis on ecological balance. Cover crops, composting and regenerative practices are used to maintain soil health and vine vitality, allowing the vineyards to express the unique qualities of their terroir.

In the cellar, the winemaking philosophy is centred on minimal intervention. Fermentations are carried out with native yeasts, oak is used with restraint, and sulphur additions are kept low to preserve the natural character of the wines. Chardonnay is typically whole-bunch pressed and fermented in barrel, while Pinot Noir is hand-harvested with partial whole bunch fermentation and gentle extraction.

Neudorf is particularly renowned for its Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, wines that express the elegance and precision of the Moutere terroir.
