Il Borro

Located in the Valdarno region of Tuscany, Il Borro is a historic estate owned by Ferruccio Ferragamo and the Ferragamo family. The estate was acquired by Ferruccio Ferragamo in 1993, who undertook an extensive restoration of the medieval village and surrounding agricultural property while modernising its vineyards with deep respect for the land and its traditions. Today, the estate is overseen by Salvatore Ferragamo, continuing the family’s commitment to producing wines of quality and authenticity.

The vineyards are located in the rolling hills of Valdarno, where varied exposures and diverse soils composed of silt, clay and pebbles create favourable conditions for viticulture. The typically Tuscan climate, with warm summers, mild winters and significant day–night temperature differences, allows the grapes to ripen slowly while preserving freshness and aromatic intensity.

Viticulture at Il Borro follows a strong commitment to sustainability. The vineyards have been farmed organically since 2015, with practices that encourage biodiversity and ecological balance across the estate. Harvesting is carried out manually and the grapes are vinified in the modern winery before ageing primarily in French oak barrels, allowing the wines to develop structure and complexity while maintaining balance.

The wines of Il Borro combine Tuscan character with the elegance of international varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. The estate’s flagship wine, Il Borro, is a blend of these varieties aged in oak barrels for approximately 18 to 24 months, producing a wine of depth, aromatic complexity and refined structure. Other notable wines include Pian di Nova, a Syrah and Sangiovese blend offering a vibrant and approachable style, and Polissena, a 100% Sangiovese that highlights the freshness and mineral character of the Valdarno terroir.
