Domaine Robert Groffier Père & Fils
Based in Morey-Saint-Denis, Domaine Robert Groffier Père & Fils is one of the most highly regarded estates of the Côte de Nuits, with a winemaking history dating back to the 19th century. The domaine gained international recognition under Robert Groffier and has since been further elevated by the current generation, led by Nicolas Groffier, who continues to refine the style while remaining true to the family’s traditions.
Despite its location in Morey-Saint-Denis, the estate’s vineyards are primarily situated in some of the most prestigious sites of Chambolle-Musigny and Gevrey-Chambertin. Holdings include notable Grand Cru parcels such as Bonnes-Mares and Chambertin Clos de Bèze, as well as exceptional Premier Crus, including Les Amoureuses, of which the domaine is one of the largest proprietors.
Viticulture is carried out with meticulous attention to detail, focusing on low yields and optimal ripeness. Many of the vines are over 40 years old, contributing to concentration and depth in the wines. Sustainable practices, careful pruning and soil management ensure the health of the vineyards and the expression of each terroir.
In the cellar, winemaking is precise and adaptable to each vintage, with partial use of whole clusters and gentle extraction techniques. The wines are aged in oak barrels with a restrained use of new oak, allowing balance and purity to remain at the forefront. Bottling is carried out without fining or filtration to preserve the natural character of the wines.
The wines of Domaine Robert Groffier are celebrated for their elegance, aromatic intensity and silky texture, combining finesse with depth. They represent some of the most refined and expressive interpretations of Pinot Noir from the Côte de Nuits, with outstanding ageing potential.
