Domaine Nicolas Rossignol
Based in Volnay in the Côte de Beaune, Domaine Nicolas Rossignol is a respected Burgundy estate known for its expressive and terroir-driven wines. Nicolas Rossignol represents the fifth generation of a winemaking family with deep roots in Volnay and Pommard. Before founding his own domaine in 1997, Nicolas worked alongside his father at Domaine Rossignol-Jeanniard in Volnay, building his experience in both vineyard management and winemaking.
Starting with just a few hectares in Volnay, Domaine Nicolas Rossignol has grown steadily over the years and today farms vineyards across several prestigious Côte de Beaune appellations, including Volnay, Pommard, Beaune and Aloxe-Corton. As the estate expanded, Nicolas relocated the winery to Beaune to accommodate the growing production and allow for modern winemaking facilities.
Today, the domaine produces wines from nearly 30 appellations, with a particular focus on Premier Cru vineyards of Volnay and Pommard. Viticulture follows a sustainable and low-intervention philosophy, allowing each site to express its individual character. In the cellar, winemaking is precise yet gentle, with careful extraction and ageing in oak barrels to preserve purity and structure.
The wines of Domaine Nicolas Rossignol are known for their balance of depth and finesse, combining aromatic intensity with refined tannins. Reflecting the diversity of the Côte de Beaune’s terroirs, the domaine has earned increasing recognition among critics, with William Kelley noting Nicolas Rossignol as “a winemaker who today numbers among the Côte de Beaune’s best producers.”
