Domaine Matrot
Located in Meursault, Domaine Matrot is a historic family estate with roots dating back to the early 20th century. The domaine was developed by Joseph Matrot and his wife Marguerite Amoignon, who combined family holdings in Puligny-Montrachet, Blagny and Meursault to establish the foundation of the estate. Over successive generations, the family expanded and refined the vineyards, with Thierry Matrot further elevating the domaine’s reputation from the late 20th century. Today, the estate is led by his daughters, Adèle and Elsa Matrot, who continue the family tradition while bringing a modern perspective to winemaking.
Viticulture at Domaine Matrot is guided by a deep respect for terroir. Since the late 1970s, the estate has progressively moved away from chemical farming, adopting sustainable and organic practices, with all vineyards farmed organically since 2000. Careful vineyard management—including controlled yields, manual work and precise harvest timing—ensures optimal fruit quality and preserves the distinct identity of each parcel.
In the cellar, winemaking is precise and measured, with long fermentations and careful monitoring of lees to enhance complexity and balance. The wines are aged for approximately 11 to 12 months in oak barrels, using primarily older barrels for whites and a limited proportion of new oak for reds, allowing the purity of fruit and terroir to remain at the forefront.
The wines of Domaine Matrot are known for their clarity, balance and expression of vintage, offering refined and age-worthy interpretations of Meursault and the Côte de Beaune. Crafted with consistency and respect for tradition, they reflect the enduring philosophy of a family dedicated to expressing Burgundy’s terroir with precision and authenticity.
