Domaine Jean Monnier & Fils

Established in 1720 in the village of Meursault, Domaine Jean Monnier et Fils is one of the oldest family estates in Burgundy. For more than three centuries, the Monnier family has cultivated vineyards in the Côte de Beaune, building a deep connection with the region’s historic terroirs.

Today the domaine covers approximately 17 hectares of vineyards, with parcels spread across several notable appellations including Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Volnay, Pommard, and Beaune. The vineyards are planted primarily with old vines ranging from 25 to 60 years of age, allowing the estate to produce wines that reflect the depth and character of these established sites. The domaine is also among the few estates in the Côte de Beaune that produce both red and white wines in equal measure, showcasing the diversity of the region’s terroirs.

For many years the wines were crafted by Jean-Claude Monnier, whose experience and knowledge were shaped by generations of family tradition. Today the domaine is led by his son Nicolas Monnier, who oversees the winemaking while continuing to build on the heritage of the estate.

Under Nicolas’ direction, the wines are produced with careful attention to detail in the family winery. Across each appellation — whether Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Volnay, Pommard, or Beaune — the wines remain rooted in the principles that have long defined the domaine: respect for terroir, quality, and tradition.
