Champagne Bollinger

Founded in 1829 in Aÿ, Champagne Bollinger is one of the most prestigious and distinctive houses in Champagne, renowned for its powerful, structured and deeply expressive wines. Remaining family-owned, Bollinger is celebrated for its unwavering commitment to traditional craftsmanship and exceptional quality.

A defining figure in the house’s history is Lily Bollinger, who took over after the death of her husband Jacques Bollinger in 1941. Steering the maison through the challenges of wartime, she played a pivotal role in shaping Bollinger’s identity and driving its post-war growth, leaving a lasting legacy of excellence and resilience.

Pinot Noir lies at the heart of the Bollinger style, providing depth, structure and complexity. The house owns a significant proportion of its vineyards, most of which are classified as Grand and Premier Cru, ensuring consistent access to top-quality fruit.

Vinification follows a traditional approach, with primary fermentation carried out in small, aged oak barrels, a practice that contributes additional texture and complexity to the wines. Bollinger also maintains an exceptional reserve wine library, including wines aged in magnums under cork, adding depth and continuity to its blends. Extended ageing on lees further enhances richness and aromatic development.

The house’s range reflects both heritage and precision, from the iconic Special Cuvée, a benchmark non-vintage Champagne, to the PN series (Cuvée PN) which explores the expression of Pinot Noir. The portfolio is further elevated by prestige cuvées such as La Grande Année and the late-disgorged R.D., alongside the elegant and expressive Rosé. At the pinnacle sits Vieilles Vignes Françaises (V.V.F.), an exceptionally rare cuvée produced from ungrafted pre-phylloxera Pinot Noir vines, offering remarkable concentration, depth and historical significance.

Champagne Bollinger is recognised worldwide for its signature style—structured, complex and age-worthy—offering a timeless expression of Pinot Noir-driven Champagne.
